Managing Director

John Lucas

John started in the insurance industry in 1982 as a general marine broker with Gault, Armstrong and Kemble Ltd, dealing with traditional hull and liability risks. He joined Heath Martens Horner in 1989. Over the last 20 years he has gained an extensive knowledge of both marine and non marine risks and in particular areas such as port and terminal operators package covers, marine/transport liabilities, strike and delay risks for vessel owners/charterers, refund guarantees, builders risks and other associated exposures. He joined Lambert Fenchurch in February 1998 moving to Tyser & Co with Lew Channing in April 2000. John was a Director of the Tyser Channing division until 2004 when he was promoted to Managing Director of the Division. In June 2007 following the team's success John was one of the founders of the Lloyd's broking firm, Channing Lucas & Partners Ltd.

Paul Channing ACII

Paul joined Sphere Drake‘s Technical and Claims Department in 1994 which was taken over by HIH to become a Protection and Indemnity Division. He moved to Lambert Fenchurch in 1999 before moving with Lew Channing and John Lucas to Tysers in May 2000 and moved with the Team to Channing Lucas & Partners Ltd in June 2007. Paul has gained experience of both marine and non–marine risks. Paul is a highly experienced ACII qualified Senior Technician and is assisting in the handling of Client‘s claims. He is also a Director of the Company.

Danny Beazley

Danny joined the Technical and Claims Department of Sphere Drake in 1993 which was taken over by HIH. In 1999 he moved to Lambert Fenchurch before moving to Tysers with Lew Channing and John Lucas in May 2000. Danny has experience handling large marine and non marine insurance and reinsurance business from around the world. He is Office Manager and a Director of the Company.


James Dyson ACII

James has 10 years experience in the insurance industry and achieved his ACII qualification in 2012. In addition James has received 2 Awards in 2010 for his exam successes. James began his insurance career at Tysers where he worked as a Technician for 5 years before joining CLP Insurance Brokers on 1st June 2007. James is now a Marine placing broker for CLP Insurance Brokers' internationally client base specialising in the placement of Yachts, Liabilities and Ports and Terminals on both a Direct and Reinsurance basis.

David Cunningham

David started his career in the Lloyd's marine market in 1983 and has worked for a number of brokers since then gaining a wealth of experience in the industry.  He has developed strong market contacts in London and Overseas markets as well as successfully producing business from direct clients and retail agents from all over the world in all marine classes.

Mike Fountaine ACII

Mike started his marine insurance career in 1978 at Willis, Faber and Dumas, quickly completed his ACII and was then promoted to become at the time one of their youngest divisional directors. In the late nineties he was appointed Managing Director of the CE Heath marine division and has subsequently  held senior Marine roles at three of the major global brokers. He enjoys professional relationships with clients, underwriters and the PandI Clubs at the highest level and has taken the account executive responsibility for producing and servicing major corporate clients in the construction, broking and development of their insurance programmes.
Mike was elected to  the Marine Executive of the London and International Insurance Brokers Association in 2004, and continues to help this trade association represent the interests of Lloyd’s insurance brokers.

Alastair Baird

Alastair started his Insurance career with Anslow Wilson and Amery in 1985 where he was employed as a technician dealing with Direct and Reinsurance risks.  He then joined Howson F Devitt in 1989 as a placing broker which mainly consisted of the placement of Marine and Energy Facultative Reinsurance - the company was then taken over by Steel Burrell Jones.  Alastair joined Windsor in 1997 producing his own Marine Reinsurance account.  He then rejoined Steel Burrell Jones in 1999 helping to run the Marine Facultative Reinsurance Division before joining Heath Lamberts to set up his own Facultative Reinsurance Division.  In 2003 Alastair joined Alsford Page and Gems as a Producing Broker.  In 2008, Alastair joined Channing Lucas & Partners Ltd and is involved with the placing of all classes of Marine business.

Paul Fleury

Paul has worked in the reinsurance business for well over 30 years during which time he has developed a considerable number of Connections and has gained invaluable Experience. His career over that time includes working for Alexander Howden, Johnson and Higgins, Jauch & Hubener, Tysers, his own Lloyd’s broker, Apex International Reinsurance Brokers, Walsham Brothers and finally as Treaty Reinsurance consultant for Channing Lucas and Partners Ltd. He produces and places business from all over the world, covering virtually every class and his particular skill is in programme design.

Wendy Wan

Wendy graduated from University of Glasgow with MSc in Economics in 2006. Wendy joined Channing Lucas& Partners as an Insurance Technician from February 2007 and became a Marine Insurance Broker in June 2010. Wendy has been appointed as cheif representative of CLP Chinese office in May 2009, responsible for marketing, client liaison, producing business and office management. Wendy has achieved the Diploma in insurance qualification and is qualified with ACII.

Simon Gonzalez-Moreno

Simon joined CLP Insurance Brokers in 2010, where he runs Credit and Political Risks with the Financial Solutions division insuring emerging market trade transactions and investments. He has 30 years experience in insurance underwriting and broking, having begun his political risk career at III, the specialist political risk subsidiary of Hogg Robinson. Subsequently he worked at Lloyd Thomson and later JLT, becoming a Partner in charge of the European desk there. He has have spoken at several conferences including at the UN Conference on Trade and Development. He works with global exporters, traders and banks to find solutions both within the private market and government and multi-national schemes.

Sean Yeo

Sean started his insurance career dealing with large complex property and casualty losses within the construction industry for a multinational insurance company.  In 2003 Sean moved in to broking, eventually taking on a new business role where he assumed a senior position developing a highly successful and effective client focused role in development and account management specialising in all aspects of construction risks
Sean is head of CLP Insurance Brokers' Construction, Engineering & Renewable Energy Division and is responsible for development, strategy and client retention.  Sean has expertise in setting up captive insurance companies on behalf of our clients as well as working with funders, employers and design teams in placing major infrastructure, renewable energy and construction projects in the UK, Middle East, Africa and North America.

John Pluck

John has worked in the Insurance sector for over 20 years. In that time period John has built up and developed strong relationships with Clients emenating from Canada, South America & Europe. John's experience began on the Marine Cargo side in 1990, which then expanded to the Non-Marine Property Side in 1996. Since then John has also developed and placed facilities on all aspects of Trucking Coverage, Sabotage & Terrorism and Comprehensive General Liability, including Recreational and Host Liquer cover. John has also cultivated and maintained good solid relationships with some of the most renown Lloyd's syndicates in the London market over the last 20 years. Maintaining a regular dialogue  with all of his Clients, they know they can access John on any work related issues 24 hours a day. This approach has created a very loyal following from John's Clients.
